A modernised holy well where rounds are still made on St. Gobnait's day, the 11th of February. It lies about 200m to SW of a possible early ecclesiastical site also named for St. Gobnait (KE052-003001-).

Hearing of some random “rock art” near Wine Strand, I went to photograph it, but the artist’s hand had a vague familiarity. ....

The inverted triangle represents the Holy Spirit; the others are known only to those for whom he prayed. ....

He was a man of many parts, dedicated to his wife Patricia and their family, art teacher, powerful tenor, member of the Cork Examiner team, but most importantly, a man whose memory brought a smile to every face.

George Mellamphy died in August 2011. ....

And it seems I have yet to find more near Ventry Pier, and should I ever get to Bottle Hill in Cork, a whole Grotto of art awaits me.

This was no 2000 B.C rock art but was another carved by George’s hand. ....

In return, every time I mentioned George’s name, asked about him, the answer came with a smile. ....

What an extraordinary gift! ....
