An Gleann Mór



This ogham stone lies on the grass-grown ruins of the out-house for which it formerly acted as a door lintel (Macalister 1945, 174-5). Its original provenance is unknown.



The stone measures 1.26m x .39m x .13m and one long angle bears an ogham inscription read by Macalister as: GANICCA. (Cuppage 1986, no. 805) Descriptions derived from J. Cuppage (1986), 'Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey'. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne.
